NAT00010: Training Organisation File in AVETMISS
Introduction
NAT00010 is the foundation of every AVETMISS submission. It identifies which Registered Training Organisation (RTO) is reporting the data and links all other AVETMISS files back to the correct organisation. If NAT00010 is incorrect, even perfectly entered student or training data will fail validation.
What Is NAT00010?
NAT00010 is the Training Organisation file in AVETMISS reporting. It contains a single record for the RTO submitting data for the collection period. This record tells the AVETMISS system who the data belongs to and which reporting authority is responsible for receiving it.
Every AVETMISS submission must contain one — and only one — NAT00010 record for each reporting RTO.
How NAT00010 Fits Within AVETMISS
NAT00010 acts as the parent file for the entire AVETMISS submission. All major NAT files reference the Training Organisation Identifier defined in this file, including delivery locations, programs, subjects, student records, training activity, and program completions.
Because every other file relies on this identifier, any mismatch or inconsistency in NAT00010 will cause validation errors across multiple files, often making the submission impossible to validate.
Why NAT00010 Matters
Errors in NAT00010 affect the submission at a structural level. Common issues such as incorrect or inactive RTO codes, mismatches between organisation details and registration records, or misaligned reporting authorities can result in submission rejection by the state authority or NCVER. These issues can also delay funding outcomes and increase audit and compliance risk.
Before investigating complex AVETMISS errors elsewhere, NAT00010 should always be confirmed as accurate and current.
When NAT00010 Is Required
NAT00010 is always required when submitting AVETMISS data. If you are reporting any student, training activity, or completion information, this file must be included — even if all other files contain minimal records. There are no scenarios in which an AVETMISS submission can proceed without NAT00010.
Outcome When NAT00010 Is Correct
When NAT00010 is set up correctly, the AVETMISS submission is clearly attributed to the correct RTO, other NAT files validate cleanly, funding and reporting processes proceed without unnecessary delays, and audit and compliance risk is reduced.
Think of NAT00010 as the identity document of your AVETMISS submission — everything else depends on it.
